Married At First Sight’s Portia Baloyi Blames Her First Divorce On Being 21 And Wanting To Party — Internet Says ‘Accountability, Please!’

Guys, remember Portia Baloyi from Married at First Sight Mzansi? Well, she’s finally spilling tea hotter than a reunion special — this time about her first marriage, not the one with Bongani Luvalo.

With Season 2 of Married at First Sight South Africa officially wrapped, Portia sat down with Relebogile Mabotja on her podcast to unpack her journey — and baby, the streets are talking.

In a clip posted on Thursday, 23 October 2025, Portia reminisced about her ex-husband, who was 12 years older than her, describing him as a “protector.” But it quickly became clear that her fairytale turned into a full-blown adulting crash course.

“I met this guy, 12 years older than me. He did everything right — I was just a baby around him,” she recalled.

“But I wasn’t ready to be a wife. I wasn’t ready to be a mother. Just like that, I was an instant mother, instant wife. You can’t go out. You can’t wear that. I was only 21. I still wanted to groove!”

According to Portia, her first marriage collapsed because she wasn’t ready to trade her youth for motherhood — and the “no grooving, no freedom” lifestyle wasn’t it.

“Instant Wife, Instant Mum — Instant Regret?”

Mzansi had mixed feelings about her confession. While some applauded her honesty, others accused her of rewriting history to fit the victim narrative.
