She’s Back! Asavela Mqokiyana Heats Up Uzalo As Nurse Sizakele After 3-Year Break

Asavela Mqokiyana, is back in her bag — and back on our screens — after a whole three-year break from acting! Fans are already losing it after Uzalo dropped the bombshell: Asavela is joining the cast as Nurse Sizakele, and her debut episode airs Thursday, 5 June. It’s giving comeback season, and baby girl is booked, busy, and beaming.

Uzalo’s official socials confirmed the casting with a playful teaser that had the streets buzzing: “Awww kodwa weNesi 😍 Introducing Sizakele @asavela__m.”

Now that’s what we call a soft launch! And you already know Twitter was ready with the memes and excitement. We see you, Nurse Bae!

From Ntwenhle to Amogelang — Asavela’s Acting Journey

She burst onto the scene in 2018 when she auditioned for Isithembiso — but fate had other plans. She ended up landing a bigger role in Isibaya as the bold and fearless Ntwenhle, and what was supposed to be a six-month stint turned into a four-year reign. Talk about impact!

After Isibaya wrapped in 2021, she didn’t just chill — she flipped the script in Abomama season 2, playing the emotionally layered Amogelang. Then she popped up in Durban Gen as Amahle Dladla, adding more spice to her resume.

But then… radio silence. Sis stepped away from the spotlight, and fans were left wondering, “Where’s Asavela?” Well, wonder no more — the queen has returned, and she’s stepping into Uzalo with stethoscope and screen presence!

Industry Babes Are Screaming “Yaaas Queen!”

As soon as the announcement dropped, Asavela’s celeb besties came through with the love and flame emojis. SA film royalty like Mmabatho Montsho, Lerato Mvelase, Khabonina Qubeka, and Pallance Dladla pulled up to her comments section with heart eyes and “We’ve missed you, mama!” energy.

And let’s be honest — the fans? Starving for this comeback. The Uzalo fanbase is ready to give Nurse Sizakele the warmest (and juiciest) welcome ever. With all the teasers and love pouring in, we wouldn’t be surprised if Asavela trends on her debut night.
