Amazon has just dropped the first teaser video for its live-action adaptation of Sega’s Yakuza games, titled ‘Like a Dragon: Yakuza,’ at San Diego Comic-Con.
The teaser places significant emphasis on the inking process of Kazuma Kiryu’s iconic dragon tattoo, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the meticulous artistry behind this symbolic feature.
In addition to focusing on Kiryu’s tattoo, the teaser provides an intriguing look at Kamurocho’s vibrant night scene. Fans of the series will recognize the bustling streets, filled with neon lights, and the undercurrent of danger that defines the setting.

This atmosphere is a crucial element of the Yakuza franchise and looks to be faithfully recreated in the adaptation.
The teaser also introduces several key characters from the series, including Kiryu’s best friend, Nishiki, portrayed by Kento Kaku. Additionally, viewers get a brief look at the Underground Fight Club, a staple mini-game from the franchise.
The scene culminates with a shirtless Kiryu stepping into a circle of cheering viewers, hinting at the intense action and drama that await.
When Amazon announced the show in June, it described the adaptation as a “crime-suspense-action series” that explores the life and decisions of Kazuma Kiryu, a formidable yakuza warrior with a strong sense of justice.
Set between 1995 and 2005, the series will likely cover events from the first Yakuza game and parts of Yakuza 0. The first three episodes of ‘Like a Dragon: Yakuza’ will premiere on Prime Video on October 24, with the next three episodes following on October 31.
Starring Ryoma Takeuchi as Kiryu, the series promises to be a faithful and thrilling adaptation for fans and newcomers alike.
