Epic Games has introduced a notable policy change concerning Fortnite battle pass rewards.
Unlike before, items from the battle pass, which were exclusive to the season they belonged to, may now appear in the in-game shop. This shift represents a significant change in how Fortnite manages its battle pass content.
Previously, items unlocked through a battle pass were treated as limited-time rewards, never to reappear in the shop.

Under the new policy, these rewards can become available in the shop, albeit not earlier than 18 months post the pass’s expiry. Epic Games has stated that this update will not alter the pricing structure of battle passes.
This change allows the company to continue investing in innovative and appealing battle pass rewards. It also enables players to enjoy the content, including outfits based on well-loved licensed characters, after the initial battle pass season has concluded.
The updated policy encompasses all item types that may feature in a Fortnite battle pass. This not only includes the original but also any alternative styles of the battle pass rewards.
The 18-month wait period extends to items from the game’s bonus reward and quest reward sections as well.
The opportunity to purchase a cosmetic item later reduces the exclusivity pressure each season imposes on players. However, Epic has clarified that there is no assurance that any given battle pass item will become available in the shop later.
Consequently, playing through the battle pass remains the most reliable way to secure desired items. The company also emphasized that they would inform players if an item were to remain exclusive to the battle pass.
