WSU Employee Shot Dead In Car Near Mthatha Campus Entrance

A Walter Sisulu University (WSU) staff member was found dead inside his car on Thursday evening, in a chilling incident that has shocked the university community. The body was discovered around 5:40pm near the Nkululekweni entrance gate, adjacent to the N2 highway, on WSU’s Mthatha campus.

According to police, the victim was seated in the driver’s seat of a stationary vehicle when authorities arrived at the scene. The area was quickly cordoned off as forensic teams began their investigation.

Multiple Gunshots Fired at Close Range Killing WSU Employee

Police confirmed that the victim sustained numerous gunshot wounds while still seated in the car. A police spokesperson stated:

“Police discovered the victim deceased inside a stationary vehicle. Preliminary forensic analysis confirms the victim sustained many gunshot wounds while seated in the driver’s position. The motive remains unknown.”

No suspects have been identified at this stage, and no arrests have been made.

Motive Still Unclear as Police Investigate

Authorities are now working around the clock to uncover the motive behind the fatal shooting. Investigators are examining CCTV footage in the vicinity and appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.

An investigation is currently under way. WSU has yet to issue an official statement regarding the identity of the staff member or offer comment on the incident. Students and staff have expressed concern over campus safety, as the university community reels from the tragic event.
