A new Xbox system is now available. Microsoft has just released a new version of the digital-only Xbox Series S in a striking “Carbon Black” colour with twice the available capacity, 1TB versus the regular 512GB seen in other SKUs.
It comes with an official Xbox Wireless Controller, as well as the same matte finish as the more costly Series X. After being teased at the Summer Games Fest in June, the new console is now available at nearly every brick-and-mortar and internet retailer.

The increased hard disk space is the big news here. Because the Series S does not support physical media, the hard disk is your only alternative. Prior versions were limited to 512GB, and you know how it goes.
That should be plenty for three or four AAA games. For example, the recently released Bethesda RPG Starfield is 130GB in size.
With an average size of roughly 100GB, the new Series S should be able to hold seven or eight high-profile games as well as a slew of smaller-sized indie titles. You’ll still have to delete older games to make place for newer ones or acquire an external disk, but that’s something you can worry about later.
The recently introduced Series S update is also environmentally friendly, with numerous components built from post-consumer recycled (PCR) polymers. This continues a pattern that began with Series S consoles in 2021.
