Patriotic Alliance Expels Bonginkosi Khanyile For Mingling With Zuma At MK Party Event

Expelling Khanyile demonstrates the PA's commitment to maintaining their party's integrity and avoiding any perception of affiliation with rival political parties.

The Patriotic Alliance (PA) has made the decision to expel Bonginkosi Khanyile, their KZN premier candidate and youth leader, despite having initially accepted his apology.

This comes after Khanyile attended a rival political party event in Verulam and later participated in an Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) event addressed by former ANC president Jacob Zuma.

Party leaders Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene initially accepted Khanyile’s apology for attending the rival political party event.

However, their stance changed when Khanyile took part in the MK event where Zuma called him to the stage and encouraged him to join the MK party and leave the PA. Zuma even stated that Khanyile would soon be campaigning for the MK Party.

In his apology, Khanyile expressed concern over how his pictures and videos from the event were being used on social media to create the false impression that he had left the PA to join MK.

He clarified that he remains a loyal and disciplined member of the PA and still regards Zuma as his father due to their long-standing association.

Despite accepting Khanyile’s apology, the PA leadership made the decision to expel him a few hours later.

PA deputy secretary-general Meshé Habana explained that while the party had accepted Khanyile’s apology, it was not acceptable for any PA leader to appear at an event of a rival political party without consultation with other PA leaders.

The PA faced criticism from detractors who interpreted Khanyile’s appearance at the MK event as an alliance between the PA and MK party.

Habana highlighted that Khanyile’s actions, especially because he was accompanied by PA supporters wearing the party’s regalia, brought both himself and the party into disrepute. The PA felt that a firm and decisive response was necessary to address this situation.

Expelling Khanyile demonstrates the PA’s commitment to maintaining their party’s integrity and avoiding any perception of affiliation with rival political parties.

By taking this action, the PA aims to send a clear message that their leaders must prioritize consultation and avoid actions that could undermine the party’s reputation.

While Khanyile’s expulsion may be seen as a loss for the PA, it also serves as a reminder to all party members that their actions and associations reflect on the party as a whole. The PA’s decision to expel Khanyile reinforces their commitment to upholding party values and principles.

In conclusion, the PA’s expulsion of Bonginkosi Khanyile, their KZN premier candidate and youth leader, despite accepting his earlier apology, demonstrates their firm stance against attending rival political party events without consultation.

The PA’s decision to expel Khanyile highlights their commitment to maintaining the party’s integrity and avoiding any perception of affiliation with other political parties.
