Former ANC Mayor Vusi Motha Joins UMkhonto WeSizwe Party, Pledges Loyalty To Zuma

Motha, who served as the mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality, has stated that his decision to join the MK party is driven by his loyalty to Jacob Zuma.

Former ANC mayor Vusi Motha has recently made the decision to leave the African National Congress (ANC) and join the newly formed uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) party.

This move comes after Motha was previously reported to have joined the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), although he later denied being a member of the party.

Motha, who served as the mayor of Mkhondo Local Municipality, has stated that his decision to join the MK party is driven by his loyalty to Jacob Zuma. He has expressed his belief that “I am Zuma, and Zuma is us,” as reported by CityPress.

Notably, Motha is not the only one to publicly pledge allegiance to the MK party. The All African Alliance Movement (AAAM) announced its endorsement of the MK party for the upcoming elections. The AAAM, aiming for a two-thirds majority, has stated that it will rally behind the Zuma-backed organization.

During a gathering in Soweto, Johannesburg, AAAM General Secretary Bishop Meshack Thebe urged supporters to vote for the MK party, emphasizing the importance of joining forces to achieve a two-thirds majority. “Come let us join forces and vote for uMkhonto WeSizwe Party,” said Thebe.

Meanwhile, former South African President Jacob Zuma himself campaigned for the MK party in Mkhondo, Mpumalanga. Addressing a large crowd, Zuma criticized the ANC, stating that the government no longer serves the needs of South Africans and does not listen to its citizens.

Zuma further suggested that the ANC should reconsider its chosen president, stating, “You chose the wrong president, remove him so we can vote for the ANC.”

The decision of Vusi Motha to join the uMkhonto weSizwe party and pledge loyalty to Jacob Zuma reflects the shifting political landscape in South Africa. As the country prepares for upcoming elections, the endorsement of the MK party by the AAAM and the support of Zuma himself indicate a growing faction within the ANC that seeks change and a new direction.

It remains to be seen how this will impact the ANC and the broader political landscape in South Africa. The upcoming elections will undoubtedly be a crucial moment for the country, as voters decide the future of their leadership and the direction of their nation.
