A devastating tornado has struck Tongaat in KwaZulu-Natal, causing extensive damage throughout the area. The twister made its appearance on Monday, leading to widespread destruction.
IPSS Emergency Services have confirmed that their medical and search and rescue teams have been deployed to Tongaat following multiple reports of the tornado.

In the wake of the tornado, the eThekwini Municipality has issued a weather warning, urging the public to be cautious. The South African Weather Services (SAWS) forecast indicates persistent heavy rainfall over KwaZulu-Natal, including the eThekwini region.

The municipality has advised, “This level 4 warning may result in flooding of roads and settlements, damage to infrastructure, and destruction of mud-based houses. Higher rain intensities are expected along the coastal regions of eThekwini.”
Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution and maintain a safe following distance on wet roads. The forecast predicts a high probability of moderate to heavy rainfall between midday today and 11 PM tonight.
Residents are encouraged to stay indoors if possible and avoid travelling unless absolutely necessary. Crossing rivers and streams should also be avoided to prevent further incidents.
