On Friday, 26 January 2024, the swift response and collaboration between members of SAPS Kabega Park, Gqeberha Flying Squad, and a private security company resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of a hijacked truck in Greenbushes.
According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 12:45 when the driver of a white Isuzu Truck was waiting to enter the traffic at the corners of Old Cape and Mission Roads in Greenbushes.

Two suspects approached the passenger side of the truck, with one armed suspect approaching the driver and forcibly pulling him out. The passenger was also forced out before the suspects made off with the stolen truck.
Upon receiving the report, members of SAPS patrolled the area in Greenbushes and Rocklands. Their vigilance paid off when they spotted the hijacked truck. With the assistance of the Gqeberha Flying Squad and a private security company, the two suspects were successfully apprehended, and the stolen truck was recovered.
The hijacked truck has been impounded for further investigation, while the suspects, aged 29 and 36, have been detained on charges of hijacking. The investigation is ongoing, and the suspects are scheduled to appear in the Gqeberha magistrate court on Monday, 29 January 2024.
This successful operation highlights the importance of quick activation and collaboration between law enforcement agencies and private security companies in combating crime.
