Police in Gauteng have initiated a manhunt to apprehend a group of suspects involved in a cash-in-transit (CIT) heist that took place earlier today on the Golden Highway, located south of Johannesburg.

Preliminary reports indicate that a gang of armed individuals intercepted a cash van travelling along the Golden Highway in the early hours of Friday morning.

It is believed that the perpetrators made their getaway in a blue Audi and a white Toyota Hilux.

The guards sustained injuries during the incident and were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Law enforcement agencies are currently conducting further investigations into the matter.
