A 43-year-old teacher from Mossel Bay has recently made headlines after being charged with multiple crimes of a sexual nature. The accused, whose name has not been released to protect the identity of the victims, is facing a total of 19 charges.
These charges include sexual grooming of children, sexual assault, rape, exposing children to pornography, and using a child to procure child pornography.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) confirmed that the grade 7 teacher was arrested at a Mossel Bay school in September. He made his first court appearance two days later, where the case was postponed to 4 October for a formal bail application. However, it was later rolled over to 19 October.

During the bail application, the State will oppose the accused’s Schedule 6 bail application. In order to be granted bail, the accused will have to prove that it is in the interest of justice for him to be released. Until then, the man will remain behind bars.
