The police in Makurung village, outside Lebowakgomo, in Limpopo have expressed their strong disapproval of a recent mob attack that resulted in the death of a man accused of stealing a plasma TV.
According to SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba, the incident occurred when two men and a woman broke into a house with the intention of theft.

The homeowner, awakened by the sound of footsteps, discovered the intruders and raised an alarm. In response, members of the community quickly gathered and rushed to the scene.
While the woman and one of the accomplices managed to escape, the third suspect was apprehended by the mob and subjected to severe assault. Tragically, the suspect succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
Upon being notified, the police arrived to find the deceased, aged between 40 and 47, lying on the street with grave wounds. A murder case has been opened, and a manhunt for the unidentified suspects responsible for the mob attack is currently underway.

In light of this incident, Provincial Commissioner of Police Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has urged community members to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. Instead, she emphasized the importance of reporting any suspicious criminal activity to the police.
