On Monday morning, a shocking incident unfolded in Newlands East as a woman was found dead in the driver’s seat of a car.
The discovery was made by paramedics who were responding to a shooting incident at the John Dory’s Sports ground in the area. The South African Police Services (SAPS) were already present at the scene, with the area cordoned off.
Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics reported that the victim believed to be approximately 35 years old, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her body.
Despite the best efforts of the paramedics, she was declared deceased on the scene. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown, and the police have launched an investigation into the case.
This tragic incident follows another shooting that occurred last Wednesday in Padfield Park, Pinetown. The victim, a woman, was killed in an alleged domestic dispute on Tyrone Road. Paramedics who arrived at the scene found the woman inside the house with multiple gunshot wounds. Despite their efforts, she was also pronounced dead on the scene.
These incidents have left both the Newlands East and Padfield Park communities in shock and mourning. The loss of two lives in such a violent manner is a stark reminder of the need for increased efforts to address violence and ensure the safety of our communities.
While the motive behind both shootings remains unknown, it is essential that the police investigation uncovers the truth and brings those responsible to justice.
