Malawian National Sought After Allegedly Raping Mother in Front Of Child In KZN

A 25-year-old mother in Hilltop, KZN, endured a traumatic ordeal early Sunday morning when she awoke to find a Malawian man forcibly removing her underwear. According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), the woman fought back but was overpowered by the suspect, who then raped her while her four-year-old child lay beside her on the same bed.
The attack occurred after the intruder entered the home through a window. After assaulting the victim, he fled the same way, leaving behind a sandal on a table—a crucial piece of evidence.

The woman later confronted the suspect, whom she recognised as a local Malawian national. He reportedly apologized for the rape and even offered her financial compensation, which she refused. Instead, she immediately sought help.
Her husband, who was working night shift, rushed home upon learning of the attack and confronted the suspect. However, the man fled the area before authorities arrived.

Manhunt Underway—Public Appeal for Information
RUSA is working closely with SAPS (South African Police Service) to track down the suspect. The organisation has obtained a photograph of the wanted individual but will only release it upon instruction from the investigating officer.

Fortunately, the child was not physically harmed, but the psychological impact of witnessing such violence remains a grave concern.
