Cape Flats Home Targeted In Suspected Petrol Bomb Attack

Police have launched an investigation after a suspected petrol bomb was thrown at a house in Belhar, on the Cape Flats. The shocking incident occurred while no one was home, and fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to Wesley Twigg, spokesperson for the South African Police Service (SAPS), the house is believed to belong to a relative of a police officer, prompting further concern over the motive.

“Nobody was at home at the time of the incident. The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation and no arrests have been made. The victim is related to a police officer,” Twigg confirmed.

Possible Intimidation Tactic Raises Alarm

The suspected arson attack has raised suspicions that it may have been an act of intimidation or retaliation, given the victim’s connection to law enforcement. While the full circumstances remain unclear, the involvement of a police officer’s family member adds urgency to the investigation.
