2-Week-Old Baby Girl Kidnapped In Cato Manor

A two-week-old baby girl, Owami Lonathando Sindani, has been kidnapped from her home in Cato Manor, KwaZulu-Natal.

The mother, Bongiwe Sindani, is desperately searching for her child, who was taken on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

According to Bongiwe, the abduction took place in broad daylight after the suspect befriended her at a local clinic just days before the incident.

The suspect, a woman who had befriended the mother on Thursday, visited Sindani’s home and took advantage of a moment when Bongiwe stepped outside to dispose of a bucket of water.

The Kidnapping

The suspect, who had formed a seemingly innocent friendship with Bongiwe at a clinic on April 24, 2025, returned to the Sindani home on Sunday.

At around 3:00 PM, while Bongiwe stepped out briefly, the woman fled with the two-week-old baby and Bongiwe’s Hisense cellphone.

The abductor left the scene without a trace, leaving the mother in utter distress.

The infant, Owami, was last seen wearing a white romper and wrapped in a blue blanket.

Bongiwe immediately alerted the community and conducted a search, but there has been no sign of the child.

Cry For Help

Bongiwe Sindani, mother of the missing child is urging the public to come forward with any information that could assist in locating her daughter.

The local authorities and the Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) have resumed search  to track down the suspect and bring the child home.

Authorities have pleaded that, anyone with useful information or who may have seen anything suspicious in the Cato Manor area is urged to contact RUSA immediately on 086 1234 333.

The family is pleading for the safe return of their beloved infant and appreciates any help from the community in locating Owami.
