Three Believed To Be Family Killed In Eastern Cape N10 Crash
A man, woman and child died after their BMW collided head-on with a truck near Tarkastad in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Three people, believed to be members of the same family, have died following a horrific head-on collision involving a BMW sedan and a truck in the Eastern Cape.
The crash happened on the N10 near Tarkastad at around 2.30am on Thursday morning. The three victims were travelling in the BMW, while the truck driver survived the collision without injuries.
Three BMW Occupants Die In N10 Collision
Eastern Cape Transport Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose confirmed that the three people killed in the crash were a man, a woman and a child.
“The deceased, a male, a female and a child, were all occupants of the BMW. The truck driver escaped unharmed.”

Emergency services responded to the scene following the collision, but the three BMW occupants died as a result of the crash.
Their identities had not been released at the time of reporting, while authorities continued working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal collision.
Tarkastad Crash Under Investigation
The circumstances that led to the vehicles colliding head-on remain unclear.
Binqose said police have opened a culpable homicide case at the Tarkastad Police Station as investigators work to establish what happened in the moments before the crash.

“The circumstances surrounding the crash are subject to investigation. A case of culpable homicide has been opened at the Tarkastad Police Station,” Binqose said.
The investigation will determine the circumstances surrounding the collision and whether any further action is required.
Eastern Cape Transport MEC Sends Condolences
The deaths have prompted condolences from the Eastern Cape Department of Transport.
Eastern Cape Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha extended his condolences to the families and loved ones of those who died in the crash.
The fatal collision adds to concerns around road safety on the province's major routes, particularly during the early hours when visibility and other driving conditions can present additional risks.
Authorities are continuing with their investigation into the Tarkastad crash.
