Three Men Shot Dead After Passenger Opens Fire Inside Khayelitsha Car

Three men have been shot dead in Khayelitsha after a passenger allegedly pulled out a firearm and opened fire inside the vehicle.

The shooting happened on Joe Gqabi Street in Town Two, Makhaza, at around 12.30pm on Wednesday. Police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, while the motive for the deadly attack remains unknown.

Three Khayelitsha Men Found Shot Dead

According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, preliminary investigations indicate that all three victims were travelling in the same Toyota when the shooting occurred.

"Preliminary investigations indicate that all three deceased persons were inside the Toyota vehicle when another passenger randomly started shooting at fellow passengers," he said.

The suspect allegedly fled immediately after opening fire. Police members who responded to the scene discovered the body of an adult man inside a grey Toyota, with multiple gunshot wounds.

Second Body Found 500 Metres From Car

As officers investigated the shooting, another victim was discovered approximately 500 metres from where the Toyota was found.

"About 500 metres from the scene, another body of an adult male was found with multiple gunshot wounds to it."

While police were attending to the second scene, a third body was discovered in Tabang Street. All three victims were male, but police said they had not yet been formally identified.

The circumstances surrounding how the three men came to be at the different locations remain under investigation.

Khayelitsha Shooting Motive Remains Unknown

Detectives attached to the provincial serious and violent crime unit are following leads in an effort to locate the suspect.

"The deceased males are yet to be identified. The motive for this shooting incident is yet to be determined."

Police have appealed to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information about the suspect's whereabouts to come forward.

Information can be provided to Crime Stop on 08600-10111, while anonymous tip-offs can also be submitted through the MySAPS app. The investigation remains ongoing.
