NVIDIA’s Deep Learning Super Sampling will soon reach a host of big-name games and more titles that do not depend on Windows. According to the company, Facepunch Studios’ survival hit Rust will add DLSS support on July 1st.

Of course, that’s in addition to a slew of already-revealed major titles that will receive DLSS, including Doom Eternal which will also get ray-traced reflections on June 29th and, at an unspecified point, Red Dead Redemption 2.
Fans should also expect to see DLSS in more Linux titles, as a driver update that’s coming on June 22nd will enable DLSS in Vulkan-based games using the Proton compatibility layer.
Meanwhile, if your Linux rig isn’t running Windows game quite smoothly enough, the AI-powered tech might make it more enjoyable for you.
Then, you will wait until the fall for a boost to DirectX games, but it’s expected that this will still help with the likes of Doom Eternal and No Man’s Sky as well.
DLSS assists the system by using deep learning to upscale a game from a base resolution to something more higher.

It’s true that the output won’t match native quality, it’s also good enough to 4K gaming within reach for people who’d rather settle for a ‘lowly’ 1080p or 1440p.
