Residents in New York and Jersey City who uses Lyft can now rent a Citi Bike on the app. After testing the service with 20 percent of users, the app company has fully-integrated Citi Bike onto its app.

The Lyft app users wouldn’t be needing a Citi Bike account to be able to rent a bike. The company announcement is coming nearly a year after Lyft bought Motivate, the company that owns Citi Bike, in a bid to become an all-purpose transportation company with options for cars, bikes and electric scooters.
Lyft is already running a bike-sharing programs in Washington, DC and the San Francisco Bay Area, so app integration with those cities will likely follow soon.
Here’s how it works, you can view if there is a Citi Bike close to you by looking at the “Nearby” section of the Lyft app on the home-screen. Tap the bike icon, select a station you’re close to, and then click “unlock a bike.” You’ll receive a five-digit code, which you’ll enter in a station’s dock to release the bike. Pricing starts at $3 for a single 30-minute trip on Citi Bike, and $12 for a full day pass.
Both Lyft and Uber have made significant investments in bike sharing. Lyft paid $100 million to triple the number of Citi Bikes in New York City, which made it the largest bike sharing system in the US.

Uber acquired Jump back in April. Jump was a Brooklyn-based e-bike startup company. The bike renting services are proving to be popular. In Sacramento, more riders are renting Jump bikes through the Uber app more than they do for cars.
Apparently, this is far spreading and would in no time go across the world like uber.
