Security Guard Killed During Robbery At Musina Emergency Medical Services Center

The provincial commissioner of police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has ordered an urgent manhunt for suspects involved in the brutal murder of a 30-year-old security officer.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, 17 July 2024, at approximately 03:20, at the Musina Emergency Medical Services (EMS) premises.
Police were alerted to a shooting incident and arrived to find the victim, identified as Lutendo Mbedzi, lying in a pool of blood.
EMS personnel were summoned but unfortunately, Mbedzi was certified dead upon their arrival. Preliminary police reports indicate that Mbedzi and his 36-year-old female colleague were performing guard duties when two unknown male suspects entered through the gate. One suspect, armed with a firearm, demanded the security officers’ weapons.
The deceased informed the suspects that the firearms were stored in a safe within the main building. The suspects then led him to the building, unaware of his colleague’s presence.
Moments later, the female guard heard Mbedzi scream for help, followed by a gunshot. The suspects fled on foot, taking Mbedzi’s cellphone. The female guard, after seeking assistance, returned to the main building with others and discovered Mbedzi’s fate.
A massive manhunt for the two suspects has been activated. Police are urging anyone with information to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Sadness Tshilwane, at 079 8757 981, or the Crime Stop number, 08600 10111.
Additionally, information can be relayed through the nearest police station or the MySAPS app. The investigation is ongoing as police strive to bring the perpetrators to justice.
