SASSA Apologises After Thousands Of Pensioners Face Grant Payment Delays

The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has apologised to thousands of beneficiaries who faced unexpected delays in accessing their grant payments this week.
On Thursday, many pensioners who had received confirmation of payment were unable to withdraw their money. The problem left around 15,000 pensioners frustrated and concerned.
Technical Glitch Between PayInc and Capitec Bank
Although the exact cause of the disruption remains unclear, SASSA confirmed that a technical issue occurred between PayInc, a payment clearing company, and Capitec Bank.
The agency stressed that the matter was treated with urgency, and beneficiaries have since been able to access their grants without further problems.

SASSA spokesperson Andile Tshona reassured pensioners that the agency is working to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
“The technical teams worked around the clock to resolve the issue as a top priority. Should any clients still be experiencing a challenge, they can contact Capitec Bank, or they can contact our SASSA call centre,” Tshona said.
