“Loss Couldn’t Stop Her Shine!” – Rethabile Khumalo Turns Heartbreak Into A Hustle With Her New Burger Kitchen

From platinum records to flipping patties, Rethabile Khumalo is showing Mzansi that talent runs deep—and so does purpose.
The singer has unveiled her brand-new mobile kitchen in Protea Glen, serving juicy burgers in honour of her late mother, the iconic Winnie Khumalo.

A Dream Served Hot
During the pandemic, Rethabile and her mother often spoke about diversifying into food.
That plan was paused when the legendary Live My Life hitmaker, Winnie Khumalo, tragically passed away.

Now, with a bold heart and entrepreneurial fire, Rethabile is keeping their shared dream alive—one burger at a time.
The food truck, set up along the bustling Cheesehood Avenue, isn’t just your average corner joint.
It’s a tribute wrapped in sesame buns, symbolising family, loss, resilience, and the spicy spirit of Soweto.
Flippin’ into Success
Since opening, the mobile kitchen has already sold over 100 burgers, with locals singing praises about both the taste and the story behind it.

It’s clear this isn’t just a celebrity vanity project—it’s a labour of love. “Every burger is made with my mom in mind,” Rethabile told patrons, many of whom remember Winnie fondly.
Though the kitchen offers vegetarian options, Rethabile admits there hasn’t been a huge demand for them in the area.
Still, she insists on keeping the menu inclusive because, as she says, “food should bring everyone to the table.”
Beyond the Music
This latest venture adds yet another feather to Rethabile Khumalo’s growing cap.

Known for hits like Ntyilo Ntyilo, she’s now proving that her success isn’t limited to music charts.

In the end, it’s not just about burgers—it’s about healing, hustle, and holding on to family dreams. And Rethabile is doing just that, one sizzling order at a time.
