On Saturday, President Cyril Ramaphosa launched the ANC’s manifesto, outlining the party’s promises to voters if they choose to support the ANC for another five years. The manifesto launch was marked by Ramaphosa’s call for a “decisive victory” by the ANC in the upcoming elections.
In his speech, Ramaphosa emphasised the importance of cadre development policy, which focuses on appointing suitable individuals who share the party’s vision.

He defended the party’s influence on the policy direction of the government through appointments, stating that it is not unconstitutional. Ramaphosa also challenged the opposition party, the DA, to share their minutes and accused them of lacking diversity in their leadership.
Ramaphosa stressed that factionalism has no place within the ANC, stating that those who engage in factional behaviour do not belong in the party. He acknowledged that some individuals have chosen to remove themselves from the ANC, but he assured the audience that the party will ensure it is represented by the “finest leadership” in the upcoming election.
Highlighting the ANC’s commitment to learning from past mistakes and experiences, Ramaphosa declared that the party is the only one fit to govern. He paid tribute to former leaders such as Nelson Mandela, OR Tambo, and Moses Mabhida, evoking their leadership as inspiration for the future.

Accountability and consequence management were key themes in Ramaphosa’s speech. He promised to protect whistleblowers and emphasised the need to professionalise the public service. Ramaphosa concluded his speech with the rallying cry of “Mayihlome!” as ANC leaders waved flags behind him.
