Leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA), John Steenhuisen has announced that the party has emerged victorious at the municipal poll in Kouga Municipality, SurgeZirc SA reports.
John Steenhuisen made this known at a press briefing on Tuesday afternoon stating that the party won 16 seats out of the 29 available seats.
It will be recalled that the Kouga Municipality is one of the strongholds of the DA but political experts had earlier forecasted that the DA might struggle to retain Kouga Municipality.
Steenhuisen who was filled with delight said he was satisfied with the party’s performance at the polls.
“My team has given me the excellent news that we have won Kouga Municipality in the Eastern Cape. We are going to go into there with 16 seats for the DA, 11 for ANC, one for the Freedom Front, one for the PA, and one for the EFF.

“It’s obviously a very important municipality for us as you know from the most recent data that’s come out, it is the most well-run municipality in the Eastern Cape,” Steenhuisen said.

Earlier today, it was reported that the DA was leading the polls in Cape Town and Tshwane.
As at the early hours of Tuesday morning, it was reported that the DA was leading in Cape Town with about 63% of the vote on Tuesday morning. In what will look like a flawless victory, opposition party like the ANC and CCC was able to gather just 9% and 7% respectively.
