DA Leads In Cape Town, Tshwane – Reports

As of press time, the DA is reportedly leading Cape Town polls with about 63% of the vote on Tuesday morning. In what will look like a flawless victory, opposition party like the ANC and CCC was able to gather just 9% and 7% respectively.

SurgeZirc SA reports that the Democratic Alliance Party (DA) is holding its own at the municipal polls as the party leads the polls in Cape Town and Tshwane respectively.

As of press time, the DA is reportedly leading Cape Town polls with about 63% of the vote on Tuesday morning. In what will look like a flawless victory, opposition party like the ANC and CCC was able to gather just 9% and 7% respectively.

However, these results are according to the 87,000 votes tallied so far at the polls. It was also gathered that in the early hours of Tuesday morning, over 65 of 801 voting districts were processed.

According to Eyewitness News report monitored by SurgeZirc SA, it was gathered that residents Bonteheuwel community a DA territory saw a high turnout of voters.

Contrastingly, some residents lament that they wanted adequate service delivery in the community stating that they were tired of the frequent promises by politicians that are left unfulfilled.

CCC’s Ward 50 candidate, Yaseen Fortune, said that residents were desperate for change.

“We live in Bonteheuwel. We know the condition of Bonteheuwel. We want a ward councilor from Bonteheuwel that can stand for the people of Bonteheuwel,” Fortune said.

At this stage, the tallying process in the metro is 8% complete.

Meanwhile, in the Western Cape, the DA is leading in the province, with just over 50%. It’s so far won 28 wards.

Elsewhere in Tshwane the race is quite close as the DA leads by 18,000 votes, with the ANC trailing collecting 11,000 closely followed by the Freedom Front Plus.
