The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) declared the results of the 2024 national and provincial elections on Sunday, 2 June, at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand.

For the first time since the dawn of democracy, South Africa’s liberation party, the African National Congress (ANC), lost its outright majority, with support declining to 40%. This shift marks a significant change in the political landscape of the country.
The commission confirmed that it has received over 500 objections from more than 20 political parties.
