The official results are out, and according to the Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC), the African National Congress (ANC) has experienced a significant decline in its voter base.
With 99.9% of the votes counted, the ANC has garnered only around 6,444,202 votes, translating to 40.19% of the total vote. This marks a considerable drop from the 57.5% obtained in the 2019 elections.

The Democratic Alliance (DA), South Africa’s official opposition party, has seen a notable increase in its share of the vote.
The DA has secured around 3,494,750 votes, which accounts for 21.8% of the vote. This is an improvement from the 20.77% it achieved in 2019, indicating growing support for the party.
One of the most remarkable outcomes of this election is the performance of the Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK) party. The MK party has emerged as a major winner, gaining 2,338,381 votes, which translates to 14.58% of the total vote. This significant achievement underscores the shifting political dynamics within the country.
