Former South African President Jacob Zuma was involved in a car accident on Thursday while on his way to campaign for the newly formed MK Party in Eshowe. Fortunately, Zuma and the other occupants of the vehicle did not sustain any injuries, as reported on Friday morning.
Musa Mkhize, a leader of the MK Party, provided an update on Zuma’s well-being, stating that he is being kept in a secure location and is in good health. However, Mkhize did not confirm whether Zuma received any medical treatment following the accident.
Interestingly, the accident occurred just a day after the Electoral Commission (IEC) endorsed objections to Zuma’s nomination to stand for parliament. The MK Party had nominated Zuma as its main candidate for the National Assembly, despite his criminal record.

Zuma’s criminal record dates back to 2021 when he was convicted of contempt of court and sentenced to 15 months in prison by the Constitutional Court. The MK Party has expressed its intention to appeal against the IEC’s decision.
This incident highlights the ongoing controversy surrounding Zuma and his political aspirations. Despite his legal troubles, he remains a prominent figure in South African politics, attracting both support and opposition. The outcome of the appeal will undoubtedly have significant implications for Zuma’s future political involvement.
