The ANC Women’s League (ANCWL) has successfully reconstituted its national structure after a year of disbandment. On Tuesday, the League unveiled the additional members of its new National Executive Committee (NEC), comprising 40 individuals, including prominent senior leaders with roles in the government.

Notably absent from the NEC is former ANCWL president Bathabile Dlamini, who failed to secure a top-five position at the League’s 13th elective conference.

This marks the second time she has been overlooked, as she was also not elected to the ANC’s overall national NEC during the December 2022 55th elective conference. Despite the snub, Dlamini expressed her full confidence in the newly elected top five leadership and pledged her support to them.

She praised ANCWL President Sisisi Tolashe as a seasoned leader and expressed her belief that Tolashe would effectively lead the Women’s League in their pursuit of women’s liberation and emancipation.
