Owami Mafokate’s DJing Gig At Presidential Inauguration Sparks Debate “Daddy Scored Her A Tender”

A recent video of Owami Mafokate performing at an event celebrating the president’s inauguration has set social media abuzz.

But what’s the big deal? Owami, daughter of record label mogul Arthur Mafokate, has been DJing for years, carving out her niche in the music industry. Her talent isn’t in question, but the origins of her high-profile gigs have invited scrutiny.

Internet sleuths are convinced that Owami’s prestigious DJ gigs, including this latest ANC event, have less to do with her turntable prowess and more to do with her father’s alleged connections.

Arthur Mafokate, who has a history of performing at ANC events, is rumoured to have strong ties with top ANC officials. This has led to speculation that Owami’s career is benefiting from these political ties. Apparently, the apple doesn’t fall far from the ANC tree.

Adding fuel to the fire, Arthur’s name has also surfaced in allegations surrounding corruption and maladministration at the National Lotteries Commission.

With such a background, internet users were quick to comment on the video shared by controversial blogger Musa Khawula on his X (formerly Twitter) platform. One user humorously noted, “Looks like Daddy’s ANC connections are paying off!”

Owami, who stars in a new reality series aptly titled “Born Into Fame,” is no stranger to the spotlight. While her skills behind the decks are undeniable, the perception that her father’s connections are providing her with a golden ticket to high-profile events persists.
