Nomcebo Zikode Breaks Her Silence After Losing Court Battle Against Open Mic

Grammy-winning songstress Nomcebo Zikode is not backing down after the Gauteng High Court ruled against her in the latest legal showdown with Open Mic Productions — and best believe she’s making her voice heard!

In a dramatic turn of events, the Jerusalema vocalist took to social media to express her frustration, calling the judgement “fundamentally flawed and deeply troubling”. If you’ve been following this saga, you’ll know this isn’t their first courtroom dance — Nomcebo and Open Mic have been locked in legal drama since 2022.

This time, the beef is all about coins! According to Nomcebo, she hasn’t seen a single cent from her other chart-topping banger Bayethe, and claims the label is giving her the runaround when it comes to accessing financial records. Sis is basically saying she’s been working and someone else is cashing the cheques.

“They Downplay Her Contribution!” – Nomcebo Spills the Tea

In a fiery official statement, Nomcebo laid it bare: “To date, Open Mic has not adequately accounted to her in respect of revenues received from Jerusalema or other music released under their label. They have systematically sought to downplay her contribution and obstruct her professional progress while continuing to benefit from her creative labour.”

Whew! If words were weapons, Open Mic would be ducking right now. The Xola Moya Wami hitmaker didn’t stop there – she’s hinting at an appeal, and let’s just say, the streets are ready for part two of this legal soapie.

She made it loud and clear that this isn’t just about her: “While we respect the role of the Court, we cannot ignore the bigger picture: this case represents more than a contractual disagreement – it is about the rights of an artist to be acknowledged, compensated and respected for their work.”

What’s Next? Two More Albums & A Fight for Freedom

In a spicy twist, Nomcebo is reportedly still contractually tied to Open Mic for two more albums. So even though she’s clearly over it, she’s got to deliver the music before she can legally peace out. And yes, fans are already begging for an album called Freedom Papers!
