WATCH: Newzroom Afrika Anchor Aldrin Sampear Accused Of Assault In Randburg Road Rage Incident

Aldrin Sampear, a well-known anchor at Newzroom Afrika, is facing an assault charge following a heated road rage incident involving a 20-year-old university student in Randburg.
The alleged confrontation took place on Jan Smuts Avenue and quickly gained traction online after video footage surfaced.
The student, Laricia Augusto, accused Sampear of intentionally hitting the rear right side of her vehicle and then confronting her in a tense exchange. According to Augusto, she began filming after Sampear allegedly grabbed her arm.

Viral Video Shows Heated Exchange
In the now-viral video, Sampear is seen standing outside the woman’s car, pointing a finger and demanding answers:
“Why did you do what you did? Why did you give me the middle finger? What’s the middle finger for?”
Meanwhile, Augusto can be heard in the clip saying: “Stop hitting me. Why are you hitting me? I am going to call the police.”
The altercation reportedly began when Augusto swerved into the right lane to avoid a taxi that had braked abruptly. She claims Sampear then deliberately struck her car from behind.
Aldrin Sampear Denies Assault Allegations
Responding to the allegations, Sampear denied physically assaulting Augusto. He told a local publication: “There was an exchange of words from both parties when we were stationary.”
As the video continues to circulate and stir public opinion, the legal process is now underway, and both parties may be called to present their sides in court. Authorities have yet to confirm whether further charges will be pursued.
