Two young individuals, aged 19 and 25, lost their lives after being assaulted by a mob that suspected them of robbing a tuck shop. This incident serves as a grim reminder of the dangers and consequences of mob justice.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. when the two individuals allegedly robbed a tuck shop assistant of a cellphone, an airtime vending machine, and other items in Dobha, Kwaggafontein C. The shop assistant promptly reported the incident, and a case of business robbery was opened by the local authorities.

As the police began their investigation and efforts to trace the suspects, they received information about an ongoing mob justice incident. Without delay, the police rushed to the scene, only to encounter resistance from the angry mob who were taking matters into their own hands.

It was a tense and challenging situation for the police as they tried to gain control and rescue the two victims who were being brutally assaulted. It took several hours, until approximately 4:55 pm, for the police to finally regain control of the situation and save the two unconscious victims.

Despite the efforts to save their lives, one of the victims succumbed to his injuries at the Kwaggafontein clinic. The second victim was rushed to KwaMhlanga Hospital but was later declared dead. The loss of these two young lives is a heartbreaking reminder of the devastating consequences of mob justice.

In the wake of this incident, the police have appealed to members of the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands. While it is understandable that emotions may run high in such situations, resorting to violence and mob justice only perpetuates a cycle of violence and further loss of innocent lives.
