The police have made a significant breakthrough in the investigation into the shooting of a Sandton businessman. Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident, which occurred on Thursday.
The victim was shot in a hit-style attack by five unknown individuals on Coleraine Drive in Morningside. Tragically, the businessman succumbed to his injuries.
Gauteng police spokesperson Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi stated that immediately after the shooting, the provincial Serious and Violent Crimes Unit, along with a team of detectives, launched a thorough investigation.
“On the same evening, the team, in collaboration with private security companies, acted on valuable information. This led to the apprehension of the three suspects, who were found driving the same vehicle used during the shooting,” she explained.
During the arrest, one of the suspects was found in possession of a firearm, which will undergo ballistic testing to determine if it was the weapon used in the crime. All three suspects are expected to appear in court in the near future, where they will face charges related to the shooting.
