Sergeant Riyadh Adams had been responding to reports of two jewellery heists in Pavilion on Sunday, November 19, when he was shot by fleeing suspects. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he sadly succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Approximately a week after the heists and the murder, the police managed to track down a suspect who provided crucial information leading them to a house in KwaMashu.
On Thursday, eNCA reported that the suspect cooperated with the police and disclosed the whereabouts of his accomplices, leading them to a property in C-Section, KwaMashu.
Upon arriving at the house in the early hours of Thursday morning, a shootout ensued between the police and the suspects. A police officer was shot, but the bullet struck his bulletproof vest, leaving him unharmed, according to eNCA.
Meanwhile, the first suspect traced by the police was fatally wounded by another suspect who was hiding inside the KwaMashu home. The shooter was subsequently killed by the police, as reported by eNCA.
