The South African National Defence Force (Sandf) has confirmed the devastating loss of two of its soldiers in a shooting incident in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The incident, believed to be a murder-suicide, occurred within the context of the ongoing United Nations Organisation Stabilisation Mission (MONUSCO) in the war-torn country.
According to the Sandf, one soldier took hold of a service firearm and tragically shot and killed his colleague before turning the weapon on himself. This distressing event adds to the recent series of unfortunate incidents involving Sandf soldiers in the Congo.
