The Johannesburg High Court recently sentenced two individuals, Denish Moodley and Ugresen Perumal, to 25 years in prison for the murder of Avinash Manjanu, which occurred in Lenasia South in 2017.
Following their conviction, both men launched an appeal in hopes of overturning the court’s decision. However, as their appeal concluded unfavourably, the court required them to surrender to authorities to begin their prison sentences.
Fugitives on the Run
In a surprising turn of events, instead of complying with the court’s orders, Moodley and Perumal decided to abscond. This evasion prompted a swift response from law enforcement.
As police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo stated, “Instead, the duo decided to abscond and disappear.” With arrest warrants now issued, the manhunt for these fugitives has escalated, with police actively pursuing leads.
A Call for Public Assistance
The authorities urge the public to lend a hand in locating the escaped murderers. Citizens who may have information regarding the whereabouts of Denish Moodley and Ugresen Perumal are encouraged to contact Colonel Nelson Manganyi at 079 529 4642 or Sergeant Isaac Mokati at 072 326 9067.
