Man Shot Dead, Woman Wounded During Hijacking At Pretoria Petrol Station

Police in Pretoria are currently investigating a disturbing incident involving a hijacking and murder that occurred at a petrol station in Pretoria East on Saturday night. The victim, a man, was discovered dead with bullet wounds inside his vehicle.

Emergency medical services, Emer-G-Med, responded to reports of a shooting incident at a local fuel station in the Equestria region of Pretoria.

According to Emer-G-Med spokesperson Kyle van Reenan, paramedics found the man inside his car with multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, his injuries were fatal, and he was pronounced dead upon the arrival of the paramedics.

A woman, believed to be from the same vehicle, also suffered a gunshot wound to her hand and received treatment for moderate injuries.

Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi confirmed that the investigation includes charges of murder, hijacking, kidnapping, and attempted murder. The identities of the suspects involved in the incident are yet to be determined.

This incident is a reminder of the ongoing challenges South Africa faces regarding crime. During the release of the crime statistics for the period of October to December, Police Minister Bheki Cele highlighted that 7,710 people were murdered during that time frame.
