Police Searching For ‘Angry Customer’ Who Shot Store Employee In KZN

KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that the incident is being investigated as a case of attempted murder.

Police in Sundumbili, near KwaDukuza on the KwaZulu-Natal North Coast, are currently on the lookout for a customer who allegedly shot a store employee in both legs before fleeing the scene. The incident occurred on Saturday morning at a shop in the area.

According to Dylan Meyrick, spokesperson for IPSS Medical Rescue, they received reports of a shooting and upon arrival, found store employees assisting the injured employee.

The victim had sustained critical injuries after being shot with a rifle. Meyrick explained that the altercation between the employee and the customer escalated when the latter retrieved a rifle from his vehicle and proceeded to shoot the former in both legs.

The injured employee was immediately attended to by IPSS Medical Rescue’s Advanced Life Support team and was then transported to a suitable medical facility for further treatment.

Netshiunda stated that the argument between the employee and the suspect began inside the store and involved a security guard employed at a nearby taxi rank. The security guard left the store and later returned armed with a rifle, opening fire at the victim before fleeing the scene.

The firearm used in the crime was subsequently found at the suspect’s place of residence, and efforts to locate him are currently underway.

The police are urging anyone with information regarding the incident or the whereabouts of the suspect to come forward and assist with the investigation.
