A man has been arrested and detained after his wife’s lifeless body was discovered in the boot of their car in Lesotho.
The incident came to light when Regional Court Magistrate Mamello Thamae and her husband were reported missing. The couple was last seen in Heilbron, and their disappearance prompted a nationwide manhunt.

According to police spokesperson Captain Loraine Earle, Magistrate Thamae arrived home in Heilbron, only to have the car drive off at around 4 a.m. on Thursday.

What made the situation even more concerning was the fact that her clothes and cellphone were still at home, indicating that something was amiss.
Authorities were quick to suspect that the vehicle might have crossed into Lesotho via the Ficksburg Port of Entry. Sadly, their suspicions were confirmed when Thamae’s lifeless body was discovered in the car.
Her husband was subsequently arrested and is currently awaiting extradition back to South Africa to face charges of kidnapping and murder.
