Four-Year-Old Child In Critical Condition After Choking On Grape

In another incident that took place in March at a food establishment in Pretoria, a waitress named Olga Fakude saved a choking child.

In two separate incidents, the quick response of individuals saved the lives of choking toddlers. In the first incident, emergency responders from Medi Response and paramedics from Lenmed Advanced Life Support came to the aid of a four-year-old child who choked on a grape.

The child was found unresponsive, and the grape had caused a blockage in the airway. The responders successfully removed the obstruction, resuscitated the child, and transported them to a nearby medical facility for further treatment.

While the child’s condition remains critical, the family is receiving heartfelt support during this challenging time.

Fakude, who was preparing for her shift at Wimpy in Mayville Mall, noticed the toddler choking on her food while working her tables.

Without hesitation, she performed abdominal thrusts, allowing the child to cough up the lodged food in her throat. The store manager, Portia Zulu, expressed her pride in Fakude’s heroic act and thanked her for her amazing handling of the situation.
