The Madikwe magistrate’s court saw a 29-year-old North West man on Thursday to answer to a murder allegation. The man is accused of killing his fiancée on Christmas Day.
Lerato Francina Kuate was reportedly slain by Lucky Thabiso Akompe in the wee hours of Monday morning at Goedehoop Village, which is close to Madikwe, according to North West police spokesperson Capt Sam Tselanyane.
The body of the deceased was discovered in a shack owned by Akompe’s relative, prompting police to be called to the scene.

Police discovered bloodstained clothing that the accused had been spotted wearing the day before concealed under a bed during their investigation of Akompe’s residence.
After turning himself in to the police, Akompe was taken into custody. On Thursday, he is scheduled to return to court.
He was remanded in custody to enable him to consult a legal representative until his next court appearance next Thursday.
