Chief Justice Zondo Calls On Judiciary To Work To Improve SA’s Legislative Arm

"We must make sure that in the fourth decade of our democracy and beyond, we do not repeat the mistakes that we've made in the past 30 years."

Chief Justice Raymond Zondo has called on members of the judiciary to put their heads together and find ways to improve the country’s legislative arm. Zondo made this call during his speech at the Judges Conference in Sun City, North West.

The conference, which brings together judges and magistrates from across the country, aims to discuss issues related to judicial independence, efficiency, and other pertinent matters.

“We must make sure that in the fourth decade of our democracy and beyond, we do not repeat the mistakes that we’ve made in the past 30 years,” said Chief Justice Zondo.

“And as a country, I’m not speaking about the judiciary, there are many mistakes that have been made.”

By encouraging open dialogue and collaboration, Chief Justice Zondo aims to foster a proactive approach towards improving the legislative arm of South Africa.
