New Bride Rescued From Drowning In Suicide Attempt At Umdloti Beach

A 34-year-old bride, just a month into her marriage, was rescued from a potential drowning at Umdloti Beach, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday evening after a suicide attempt.

At 18:25, Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a distress call from the bride’s family, reporting that she had been feeling suicidal following a domestic dispute.

The family had received a troubling message from the woman indicating her presence at the beach.

Upon arrival at Umdloti Beach, the family located the bride’s car but could not find her, prompting them to immediately contact RUSA for assistance.

Dramatic Rescue

RUSA Operations Manager Kieran Ramjogi, who responded swiftly to the emergency, joined the family in the search for the woman.

Armed with torches and searching along the shoreline, they located the woman floating in the water, semi-conscious.

Without hesitation, Officer Ramjogi and the woman’s father entered the water to rescue her.

After retrieving the woman from the water, they began performing CPR on the beach.

Fortunately, the woman started vomiting, a sign of recovery, and was quickly transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
