Miss South Africa Cuts Ties With Miss Supranational—Mzansi Fans Left Shocked And Shook

Miss South Africa Cuts Ties With Miss Supranational—Mzansi Fans Left Shocked And Shook

Say it ain’t so! The Miss South Africa Organisation has officially dumped Miss Supranational, confirming they’ll no longer send a queen to the 2025 international pageant in Poland.

Fans started buzzing after the unexpected exit, with many speculating that Mia le Roux, newly crowned Miss SA 2024, had something to do with the breakup. But Miss SA quickly snatched the mic to clear the air:

“The Miss South Africa Organisation has decided not to participate in the Miss Supranational 2025 competition and will not be renewing its license for the event… This decision was made solely by the Organisation and is not attributed to Miss South Africa 2024, Mia le Roux, nor the runner-up, Nompumelelo Maduna.”

So, nope—Mia didn’t ghost Miss Supranational. The Organisation says it was a mutual uncoupling, done with love and grace. But the timeline is still side-eyeing the whole thing…

Third Time’s the Charm? Miss SA Has a History of Pulling Out

Here’s the tea: this is not the first time Miss SA has bailed on an international stage. This latest breakup marks the third major exit in recent years:

In 2022, Miss SA cut ties with Miss World.

In 2023, Natasha Joubert withdrew from Miss Universe mid-competition.

And now in 2024, it’s bye-bye Miss Supranational.

Mzansi pageant fans are starting to lose their cool. One heartbroken user posted:

“You dropped Miss World, then withdrew from Miss Universe during the competition, and now from Miss Supranational. Why do you have to crash dreams of ladies in pageantry?”

It’s giving “commitment issues.”

Glitz, Gratitude & Past Glory: Queens Speak Out

While the internet mourns the end of this chapter, former Miss SA queens are reminiscing about their Supranational glow-ups.

Bryoni Govender, who stepped in for Joubert and slayed her way into the Top 12 at Miss Supranational 2023, posted:

“Forever grateful for the impact @official_misssa had on my supra journey.”

And who can forget the ultimate slay? Lalela Mswane, the queen who did the unthinkable by bringing the Miss Supranational crown to South Africa in 2021! Her historic win was a whole serve.

The Miss SA Organisation closed the chapter with class, saying:

“We deeply value the memories and connections of this event. We wish the Miss Supranational Organisation a spectacular event.”

While fans may be fuming and asking “who’s next to get the chop?”, Miss SA insists it’s all about evolving the brand. But baby, social media is not convinced.
