Mbuyiseni Ndlozi Resigns From Parliament

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Member of Parliament Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has officially resigned from parliament. The announcement, made on Thursday by the EFF, follows months of speculation regarding a possible fallout between Ndlozi and party leader Julius Malema.

Ndlozi’s resignation comes on the heels of the controversial departure of Floyd Shivambu, Malema’s former deputy, who has since taken up the position of secretary-general in the newly formed MK Party. Insiders within the EFF allege that Ndlozi faced isolation after his silence during Shivambu’s contentious exit.

EFF Statement

The EFF has denied any internal strife stating that Ndlozi’s departure, along with that of Yazini Tetyana, was voluntary.

“The EFF has accepted the respective voluntary requests to be released from the deployment of the two fighters, who have diligently served the organisation in their respective deployments since the EFF has had representation in the legislative sphere,” said EFF spokesperson Leigh-Ann Mathys.

Ndlozi’s Legacy in Parliament

Ndlozi has been a prominent figure in the National Assembly since 2014, earning respect for his eloquence and unwavering commitment to the EFF’s ideals. His departure marks the end of an era, with many political commentators viewing it as a significant shift within the party’s leadership dynamics.

Yazini Tetyana, another long-serving member, also tendered their resignation. Tetyana represented the EFF in the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature before transitioning to parliament.

Speculation and Future Implications

While the EFF insists the resignations were voluntary, the timing has fuelled speculation about deeper divisions within the party. Ndlozi’s close ties with Shivambu and his perceived silence during Shivambu’s departure have been interpreted by some as signals of internal discord.

The resignations are likely to spark further debate about the stability of the EFF’s leadership and its future direction as the party navigates an increasingly competitive political landscape.

Ndlozi has yet to publicly comment on his departure or his plans moving forward.
