SAPS confirmed that the resignation brought his employment with the service to an immediate end. The disciplinary proceedings could not continue against him as a serving police officer following his departure.

Acting national police commissioner Puleng Dimpane explained that the outstanding disciplinary case was the reason for the classification. She said Sibiya’s resignation meant the internal process could no longer continue in the same manner.
