Thami Ndlala, the husband of Metro FM presenter Lerato Kganyago, has been granted R10,000 bail following his arrest on charges of extortion and intimidation.

The controversial businessman’s case has been postponed to 20 November 2026 for further investigations. The drama reportedly went down right outside court 20 of the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday.

Ndlala was there for a protection order application brought by Blue Mbombo when officers moved in. Reports say he tried to runaway, but SAPS caught up with him and bundled him into a police vehicle, so this was no quiet exit.

This comes one week after he told his followers on social media that the charges against him have been dropped. Somebody clearly forgot to tell the police about the “dropped” part.

Ndlala is not taking this lying down, and he insists the cellphone number used to intimidate the complainant is not his. He did admit he was at court that day, but only for the protection order. Convenient or true, that number is going to be the thing everybody fights about.

His lawyer also told the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court that the intimidation charges have nothing to do with the protection order proceedings.

Lawyer Separates Criminal Charges From Protection Order Proceedings

During court proceedings, Ndlala’s lawyer told the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court that the intimidation charges were unrelated to the separate domestic violence protection order proceedings.

The lawyer reportedly said the alleged incidents underlying the criminal charges dated back to 29 June, distinguishing them from the protection order matter involving Mbombo.

Chris Molefi, the lawyer representing the parties in the Ndlala and Mbombo matter, said he had not received instructions to speak to the media at that stage.

Molefi indicated that an official public statement would be needed before he could comment further.

Ndlala’s R10,000 bail means he will remain out of custody while the investigation continues, subject to his bail conditions. His next court appearance is scheduled for 20 November 2026.
